A smooth walkthrough starts with a model that can hold up to motion. Before opening the camera path editor, close every gap in walls, connect floor and ceiling planes, and place doors, windows, and stair geometry at final size. A missing baseboard or a 3 inch gap under a wall becomes far more visible when the camera moves through a room, because the eye tracks the change in perspective. Set final materials and lighting at this stage too. Replacing a wood floor or changing a fixture after you animate can force you to re-render the path if reflections or shadows shift. Save a copy of the project file named walkthrough, so the original design file stays clean for construction documents.

Check your model scale and as-built dimensions before you place the first keyframe. If a hallway is really 42 inches wide, model it at 42 inches. A camera path built around an inaccurate floor plan will feel tight or float through incorrectly placed walls. Light the Scene for Render Time, Not Just Appearance
Walkthrough render times depend heavily on lighting. Choose the artificial light set or daylight condition you want for the final video, then toggle off unseen lights in parts of the model you will not pass. A kitchen with 14 recessed lights and under-cabinet strips renders much faster if you turn off the lights in rooms behind the camera. ArchiMaster 3D calculates scene lighting per frame, so fewer active lights means a shorter export without visible quality loss in the rooms the client actually sees.
Build the Camera Path Keyframe by Keyframe
The camera path is a series of keyframes connected by smooth interpolation. In ArchiMaster 3D, open the 3D view and switch to the Walkthrough/Animation workspace. Start outside the front door or at the natural entry point, then click to place keyframes in the order a visitor would walk. Each keyframe stores camera position and look direction. Do not try to draw a freehand path by dragging the mouse through the plan; discrete keyframes give you control over exactly where the camera turns and how long it pauses.
Place Keyframes Where the Eye Naturally Lingers
For a living room, use four to six keyframes: just inside the door, at the main seating group, near the focal feature, at the window or view wall, and at the exit. In a kitchen, place keyframes at the work triangle points, at the island, and one pulled back to show the whole room. The goal is not to cover every square foot; it is to give the viewer a sequence of composed moments. Each keyframe is a shot. If your path has more than one keyframe per 8 to 10 feet in a straight space, the motion will feel restless.
Use Separate Keyframes for Turns and Thresholds
The most common cause of a jerky walkthrough is trying to turn the camera at a single keyframe. Instead, place one keyframe before the corner, one at the corner, and one after, with the middle keyframe aimed along the corner sightline. This gives the interpolation three points to smooth through and prevents the camera from swinging too fast. When moving through a doorway, place a keyframe in the room before the door and one in the room after the door, not directly on the threshold.
Speed, Easing, and Duration Settings That Prevent Jerky Motion
ArchiMaster 3D lets you assign speed and easing to each camera path segment rather than one global playback speed, and that is the single most important setting for preventing jerky motion. A constant speed feels mechanical because real walking speeds up and slows down at turns and stops. Set each segment between 3 and 6 seconds. A narrow hall can run at 2 to 3 seconds; a large open-plan room may need 6 to 8 seconds. The longer the segment, the slower the camera reads, and the more the viewer absorbs the proportion of the space.

Choose an ease-in/ease-out curve for every segment. Easing starts the camera slowly, reaches full speed in the middle, and decelerates into the next keyframe. Without easing, the camera starts and stops abruptly at each keyframe, creating a mechanical stop-motion feel. Add a 0.3 to 0.5 second hold at the start and end of important keyframes so the viewer can orient before the next move. Keep the camera at 5 ft 6 in to 5 ft 10 in above finished floor and level to the horizon. Tilting the camera up or down while moving is what readers most often describe as a roller-coaster effect.

A 4K walkthrough quadruples the pixel count, can multiply render time by three or more, and produces files too large for most email attachments. The difference is largely invisible on a laptop or phone, which is where most clients first watch the tour.

Set the bitrate between 8 and 12 Mbps for 1080p final export. For a 90-second walkthrough, that produces a file around 90 to 135 MB, small enough to upload to Google Drive, Dropbox, or a client portal. If you need to email the video, export a 720p review at 4 to 6 Mbps first, around 35 to 50 MB, and include a note that the final 1080p link is available. If the camera appears to pass through a wall, the keyframe is probably too close to the wall surface. Move the camera point at least 12 to 18 inches away from any wall, counter, or cabinet face and check that the look direction is not aimed parallel to the wall. When a path feels rushed, do not increase the global playback speed; instead reduce the number of keyframes and lengthen the segments. A 60-second tour with eight shots usually reads better than a 60-second tour with 20 shots.
If your export is too large, lower the bitrate rather than the resolution first. Dropping from 12 Mbps to 8 Mbps cuts file size by about a third while keeping 1080p sharpness for most interiors. If colors look washed out, check the lighting set and turn off lights in unused rooms. For dark or flickering video, render a 5-second test clip around the affected keyframe before re-rendering the entire path; this saves time when you are troubleshooting.
